Ponco started playing guitar autodidactic when he was 9 years old. He always took the opportunity to play his brother’s guitar in that time. He had an impressive experience at his 5. He saw his father play drum on the band playing the Rock ‘n Roll à la Beatles and he felt like his adrenali! ne blew up.
He had a chance to learn guitar
at Yamaha Musik (Solo, Indonesia), Pazz Music Center (Solo,
Indonesia), Jakarta Institute of Art (IKJ) and nowadays he
is study at University of Central Oklahoma, USA.
When he was six years old, his uncle introduced him to guitar for the first time. While at senior high school he joined a school band but music was still a hobby when he moved to Yogyakarta to study economics at university. In early 1997 he met Harry and took private lessons with him and since then he has taken guitar very seriously. Unfortunately Harry had to move to Jakarta after Hissa had been taking lessons for five months but he was so impressed with the way Hissa progressed that he asked him to take over teaching the beginners at one of the schools where he had taught. Hissa continued learning guitar and practiced up to 10 hours a day, making enormous progress. He followed in Harry's footsteps and was twice awarded the title of Best Rock Guitarist in Central Java as well as Best Guitarist in Java and Bali. He performed around Indonesia with his band until 2002 when he returned to university to finish his thesis. He continues to teach guitar. This is one of Hissa's compositions: ADRNLN (4.30MB)
Damien is one of Harry's advanced students. He is disciplined, applies what he learns to his playing and follows Harry's "practice smart" method. His progress has been impressive even though, like everyone, his life is busy. Making time to practice is very important. If you practice half an hour or one hour a day, it will make a big difference in your playing. Damien is the lead guitarist for a working four-piece cover band, "The Usual Suspects". The band mixes styles between Blues/Rock, Indy and Soul – and has a lot of fun in between.
It turned out to be one of the best presents she had ever received. Louisa enjoyed it so much that she decided to continue taking lessons with Harry. In the beginning she had problems hearing pitch. This is one of the most important skills for a musician and something that Harry focuses on during lessons. Louisa applied what she was taught and practiced smart. After one month, Louisa made incredible progress and continues to improve every week. She can now play guitar and sing at the same time. |
